West Ham United fans may have felt optimistic heading into Saturday’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace following their midweek heroics in the Carabao Cup.
Slaven Bilic’s side came from 2-0 down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 at Wembley and book themselves a spot in the quarter-finals.
The high from that game carried into the weekend fixture at Selhurst Park as the Hammers went 2-0 up inside the first half thanks to goals from Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew.
The East London outfit were unable to hold on to that momentum, though, as Luka Milivojevic pulled a goal back for Palace from the penalty spot.
The killer blow came six minutes into added time when Wilfried Zaha snatched a dramatic equaliser in the 97th minute for a team bottom in the Premier League table.
After the match, goalkeeper Joe Hart, who made a number of crucial saves, delivered his verdict, saying that even though the team are disappointed, there are positives to take away.
The fans, though, did not share the same sentiment.
