It seems the Erik Lamela injury saga may not quite be over at Tottenham.
Despite Mauricio Pochettino insisting that the Argentinian player is virtually fully fit, it seems that Lamela may not be ready after all.
The 25-year-old has been sidelined for almost a year after suffering a serious hip injury. However, recent conflicting reports coming out of the training ground have confused everybody.
It appears that Pochettino is simply waiting for Lamela to say when he feels ready, rather than selecting the midfielder himself.
Speaking to the media ahead of their clash with West Brom, Spurs’ manager was asked about the likelihood of Lamela, who is valued at £22.5million by Transfermarkt, playing a part in the weekend’s game and stated;
“We are waiting but maybe we decide, yes, to play him in the Under-23’s this weekend. Tomorrow we need to wait. Maybe in his mind he says ‘Gaffer if you want, I am ready again to be available if you believe I can help the team'”.
Upon hearing these confusing reports, Tottenham fans took to Twitter and were certainly not happy…
